Skål International Krabi joins forces with local government in a new green campaign to protect the beaches of Thailand’s iconic tourist destination

Taking the lead in a new green initiative for one of Thailand’s most scenic and iconic tourist destinations, the resort of Krabi, Skål International Krabi and the local Ao Nang Subdistrict Administrative Organisation have jointly launched a new collection and recycling campaign focusing on keeping Krabi’s famous beaches clean.

The pilot project which is pioneered by Ingeborg Fallet Kristensen, Managing Director of Krabi Spesialisten and the current Skål International Krabi President, was officially launched this spring with an initial four sets of collection bins generously sponsored by local businesses, Krabi Spesialisten Co Ltd., Krabi Cliff Villas Co Ltd., Aloe Boutique Villas, and Fast Manta Diving Krabi Co Ltd. in a business model for the future development of the project.

We now have a verbal agreement with the Ao Nang Municipality to roll out 20–40 new sets of waste separation bins before the upcoming high season”, said Ingeborg. “We will be using the existing bin design but with an eco-friendly twist to better blend with the natural surroundings. Bins will be covered in bamboo, andinclude clear wooden signage for waste separation categories and each set will feature four informational signs. Local companies will be invited to sponsor the bins as a branding opportunity”.

"We are delighted with the enthusiastic response to our 2025 Trash and Recycling Program which demonstrates a shared vision for a cleaner and more sustainable Ao Nang. It’s truly inspiring to see this initiative taking shape, and I hope it will encourage both locals and visitors to participate in protecting our beautiful environment”.

Skål International Krabi is committed to working closely with the Ao Nang Municipality, the Ministry of Tourism, and various local associations to develop comprehensive sustainability guidelines. This initiative sets a solid foundation for continued environmental progress in Ao Nang, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.
